Better monitoring of the properties’ entire electrical network

The solution: Ignition, Siemens Rugged Com and Schweitzer combined

Industry

Our client manages real estate in the Greater Montreal area.

Needs

Our client had a number of requirements. First, they sought to improve the visibility of the distribution, consumption and status of their electrical network across all their properties.
Second, they needed to rethink the air-conditioning and heating management of its buildings, with the aim of optimizing control and improving stability. They wanted to move from a traditional, inaccurate measurement system to a reliable, real-time, easily controllable and scalable solution.
Another requirement was to more effectively analyze total power consumption across a range of different equipment. They were also looking to increase their network’s reliability by adding emergency power via generators.
Finally, our client requested improved networking via fiber-optic communication.

Solutions

We had a lot to offer our client in terms of our automation expertise! We rose to the challenge in a variety of ways.
We began by analyzing and documenting the existing infrastructure in order to propose customized solutions and a corrective plan addressing all levels. We set up the architecture of the overall power grid, created the distribution plan and established a list of priorities with our client. We then began implementing the proposed structure, and finally installed, tested and delivered the best solution for our client and their properties.
