A New SCADA Infrastructure for Enhanced Performance
The Solution: Ignition
Industry
Our client operates in the manufacturing industry and specializes in wood processing.
Needs
Our client required an analysis of the existing automation system, both in terms of technology and software development, so as to implement the appropriate migrations and improvements to resolve inadequacies.
Solutions
In a first step, we conducted and documented a thorough review of the existing SCADA infrastructure that had been previously implemented by another integrator. In doing so, we were able to compile a list of inadequacies as well as a correction plan at all levels: operating system, database, communication drivers, SCADA software version and software development.
We then established a list of priorities in collaboration with our client and began to implement the necessary corrective measures accordingly. These steps took two to three months to complete.
Results
A more structured solution
for the client based on clearer concepts
Client now has a better understanding and ownership
of the system thanks to our continued communication and support throughout the project
Leveraged existing SCADA platform functions
by redesigning elements of the programming
Preserved user experience
to avoid impacting operations on factory floor, despite the significant redesign
More subtle changes and less risky upgrades
due to improved SCADA software and routine updates
Lower development costs for the client
through the reuse/adaptation of some functions or sections of code
